Departure:
- Departure from your hotel or the port of Piraeus.
- After a one-hour and fifteen-minute drive, you arrive at the ancient city of Corinth, where Saint Paul lived and preached for two years.
- In antiquity, Corinth was one of the wealthiest cities, as evidenced by its remains, such as the vast Agora and the Temple of Apollo (6th century B.C.).
Corinth Canal:
- Next stop is the famous Corinth Canal.
- The Canal is 4 miles long, 70 feet wide, and has sloped sides reaching 170 feet. The depth is 26 feet.
- Construction began in 1881, although the idea of connecting the Ionian and Aegean Seas seems to date back to at least Roman times.
Return to Athens:
- After photographing the Canal, you will board your vehicle for the return journey to Athens city center.
- See points of interest such as Syntagma Square, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Greek Parliament, Hadrian’s Arch, and the Olympic Stadium before arriving at the Acropolis hill.
- On the sacred rock of the Acropolis, the monuments date from the prehistoric period to the end of antiquity. Highlights include the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion, and the architectural triumph of the Parthenon.
Return:
